Environment

The Peninsula Link project team is making major efforts to improve the environment around the Peninsula Link Project and minimise any adverse impacts.  The project’s Environmental Management Plan outlines the project's approach to the management of environmental issues for the Peninsula Link Project.  The plan contains details on environmental policy, planning and procedures and the resources available to the project for development, implementation, maintenance and review activities .

You can find general information from these plans on the website, including information on:

You can also read the Environmental Management Strategy and Management Plans.

An Environmental Effects Statement  (EES) was prepared by the Southern and Eastern Integrated Transport Authority (now known as Linking Melbourne Authority) prior to the project commencing.  The EES assisted the project in identifying key environmental issues.

Reducing our carbon footprint

The project is also committed to applying the principles of sustainability and carbon footprint minimisation to the Peninsula Link Project.   Abigroup’s greenhouse gas emissions reporting tool will be used on the project to capture and report project-related emissions data that will assist the project to reduce emissions and lower its environmental impact.

To reduce the carbon footprint of the project Abigroup will, where possible:

  • reduce, reuse and recycle
  • minimise construction volumes
  • maximise beneficial use of material removed by excavation
  • use and source materials efficiently and, where practical, from sustainable sources.
